I always think historical stories told by mouth are more interesting than reading them from books. The stories might get changed by person to person and more and more interesting twists and turns could happen along the way. So I just love to listen to stories.
Yesterday my husband told me they visited Dina Sahib Gurdwara and heard a lot of stories from the elderly people there. One of the stories goes like this. This is strictly a story. Due to the atrocities done by the Mughals against Hindus/Sikhs at the time of Aurangzeb, the Sikhs under the leadership of Guru Gobind Sing, decided to start an army of their own called Khalsa. Guru Gobind Singh asked the people gathered around him that he need 5 heads and 5 young men immediately jumped up and said they were ready to do anything. These five young men were called ‘Panch pyare’s’. They went around and made war with those who were making their life miserable. In the end only 2 of the young men were left. Then the Guru wrote a letter to Aurangzeb about the whole situation and sends the letter along with these two men. But they couldn’t get inside the palace and give the letter to Aurangzeb.
Mean while, Aurangzeb used to go to Mecca every day travelling through air to offer his prayers. The Guru knowing this decided to go there to meet Aurangzeb in person and travelled by air all the way to Mecca. He took the opposite side of the path that Aurangzeb took and met him face to face in Mecca. The Guru held his hand and told him that he wrote a letter to him and wanted to him to know what was happening around him. Aurangzeb had respect for the Guru. It turned out that Aurangzeb felt ashamed of his doings and regretted his actions. Then after his death, Aurangzeb took rebirth and was born as Maharaja Ranjith Singh, his time was known as the Golden era of Sikhs. He also rebuilt the Golden temple.
I love such stories; I don’t seek the truth in it or the facts in it. I just love to hear them and see those stories unfold in my mind....

That is why we call them stories.Something we like to listen to.But,just take them as stories.
