Arundhathy Roy and her big mouth..

I am glad that Arundhathy Roy is in trouble for once again opening her big mouth to make anti Indian comments. If she has nothing else to do let her read the book the kite runner by Khaled Hosseini to understand in a simple way how easy it is lose freedom and how hard people are trying to keep us safe. Upon her comment on the partition of Kashmir, sometime back Sukumar Azhikode gave an awesome reply in the Manorama news paper. That was worth reading and I hoped someone gave it to her to read. May be she would gladly give up her house and all in it for an aggressive neighbor who forcefully tries to take it from her.

She can make all those high spirited comments, because India is a free country, people like her can sit back in her luxury and make anti Indian comments. Let her go to Afghanistan or Pakistan and try her bold comments from there and see where it will land her. I wish she would concentrate on writing books. I have respect for people like Medha Patkar but not to Arundhathy likes. And then her recent comment was that Maoists are a kind of a sort of patriots? Then what can we call the real patriots? Every killer, terrorist, has their own reasons for doing what they are doing, but if we start defending their actions where will it end? It is people like her let these simple people to become what they are now by instilling poison inside their minds. Instead of trying to help them, bringing them up in society and have a better standard of living and education, people like her is putting violence in those people. Teaching them this is the only way for them. If she really wants she can try to teach them how to get what they want in a non violent way. I do think that way still works.

Soon she would start supporting honor killings too because those people also have their own reasons. She is such a hypocrite. She might want to be in the centre of attraction every now and then but why don’t she find a better way than this? She is making a joke of the lives of real patriots and the lives of those who try to keep this country safe. Democracy doesn’t mean one can go ahead and spark anti social comments and get away scot free.

Do artists have social responsibilities? Difficult to say. Many of the well known artists all had some kind of deviation or other.Romaan Polanski was charged with child molestation.Does it mean that we should not see his movies?

The important issue is to differentiate art from the artist.Just read her books if you think she is good.I don't think she has written anything impressive after God of small things.

Like you said, these are all attention seeking tricks.Ignore them, then they will cool down their heads.

I thought I had made a comment earlier.
Arundhati is just a lucky writer.I don't think much about her place in the world of literature.
This is all the consequence of undeserved fame and fortune. And then, they want to keep on getting attention.Artists have social responsibilities. If they don't know how to talk, they must be kept quiet.

Yes dr,antony,i agree with you.
If an artist doesn’t support nationhood, the nation doesn’t have to support her either. She should be treated as a regular Indian citizen,(the citizenship comes with responsibility) nothing more nothing less.
I feel the so called PAINKILI writing by writers like Muttath Varkey or Kanam EJ has a better standard than her novel. I didn’t find her novel as impressive at all, it’s an okay book. I find books by Anita Nair equally good.
