From Trivandrum to Jalundhar (1)

I have never imagined that I would eventually end up in the US anytime in my life. The ‘US’ in my memory was of aunties and uncles coming once a year to visit. Other than that I never thought much of ever going there. Then it happened and I spend most of my married life there. Then we came back to India when my husband got in to Territorial Army as an officer. A long time dream coming to a reality for him and for me it’s a totally new different path in life to start.

After all the hard trainings and SSB tests and what not, he got posted at Jalandhar. When he came for ten days leave after a month of being away from home he decided to take me with him for a month. For my son this is the time he will be all 'alone' at his home with his grandmother:). I guess I think this would be an experience for him to learn how to do things on his own rather than me handing him everything he needs, a practice I started and now hates to stop!

I am going to find out for the first time what it is about being an Army wife, or what it is an army life is all about. I may never be able to find the full meaning but this is a life I have never experienced before.

The journey started with us going to Delhi to visit my brother who is doing research /studying at the JNU. We started at 7am and reached delhi around 2 .30 pm. He was not there that day but arranged a driver to pick us up and take us to the JNU. There we stayed at his room that’s a totally bachelor’s room. But contrary to what I heard about how bad a bachelor's room is,this was not bad. The bed was clean and other than some scrap papers and some left over chips the room was okay. But my natural instinct was to take the broom and clean the room but husband stopped my thoughts even before they came out in words. ‘Don’t even think about dong it or you will end up with dust allergy’. I was more than happy to obey for a change:)
