A walk through the past..

After going through the blog ‘Historic Alleys‘, I was reminded of our trip to Pompeii.
It was a beautiful rainy day. Since it was rainy and foggy we couldn’t go to Mt Vesuvius, since they canceled the buses. so we changed the plan and went to Pompeii instead. The guide was a nice person and got the kid engaged, as he had a 1001 questions to ask. We got to walk around free.
It was an experience walking through the ruins of Pompeii thinking about the unfortunate people, who lost their lives there.
We were amazed to see the beautiful paintings on houses, their water systems etc. The guide told us, they built their streets in such a way that only the carts inside the city could ride through those roads. Outside carts needed to stop outside the city walls, because of this . They charged money by renting those carts to outsiders who wanted to do business inside the city .Also there were bigger stones in the middle of the streets to walk, without getting your feet dirty by rain water or dirt.
It was a walk through the past.
When we came back, we lost our way and walked a lot to find the way back to the entrance. I was thinking would we end up spending the night there!! The whole experience was an out of the world experience, with an almost empty railway station nearby, with the occasional rain and cool weather, it was hard not to feel lazy..
