some hard facts...have to accept it though..

Yesterdays are still very fresh, all you need to do is just have a back glance, like flipping the previous month’s leaf on a calendar, and you see all the days there, and you remember everything, well almost everything … I can see one afternoon I rushing out to get him from school after seeing a tornado watch, in our area., the sky was getting darker and darker and the radio was warning about a storm anytime soon. Always afraid of storms, I didn’t want to be on the road during a storm, wanted to pick him up ASAP and be back in our building, I can  feel that panic moments even now!!!  And there is this moment, of me carrying him in his blue snow jacket and he falls to my shoulder like a log, his nose running, it was a very cold snow day. As soon as we got inside he threw up, .I was always afraid of his motion sickness. I used to keep bundles of plastic bags inside his jacket, inside my bag, inside the glove compartments, inside his bag and still I felt it was not enough..

Looking out from the fast moving train, seeing the even faster moving   houses, trees and barren fields, I also went back 18 years in my life with lightening speed.  We were coming back after settling down my son in his new college and his new PG accommodation. It was just yesterday that my little one wearing a checkered shorts and a plain brown shirt with a small yellow bag pack got inside his school bus to go to his play school, Munroe. After a few days when his teacher saw me she told me -if he doesn’t become ‘someone in life’ let me knowJ .she looked so serious!  For the whole first year he took the bus, and then once I got my driver’s license I started taking him to school and back.

Getting the driver’s listener was a piece of cake, at least that’s what I thought. I thought you need to know only how to drive. Never had o follow traffic rules in Trivandrum except when the police show the stop sign. So yes it was a change, but still what’s the big deal I thought.  First time I went, failed miserably, second time another failure. I couldn’t believe but at 4th try I passed!!! One time when I saw the railway cross sign I put the break right there itself in the middle of the road and the officer lady was ready to jump out of the seat. Another time she asked me to Parallel Park and I parked the van parallel to a car that was parked on the roadside. She looked at me, I looked at her, well I parked the vehicle parallel to a car, I thought and smiled. She tried to explain to me that’s not parallel parking, but then decided to give up. To my surprise, I passed the test that time!!!also it’s a joke my husband shares with friends, when I went for the eye check up, they asked me if I can see the blinking light on my right side. I said no, they tried several times and asked me if I am blind on my right eye.  I realized then that I was looking at the left side when she was saying the right side, a problem I still have.  Even now if I am in an auto and giving him directions, I will be showing my right hand and telling him left please.

Some days we both enjoyed our school trips, some days we had nasty times. Some days when we like each other’s company we would increase the volume of the music to the fullest and laugh together at the madness of it, or scream with the music. Even though I can be very nasty at times, especially when he gets out late, except those times, he says he enjoys our ridesJ . Love you baby for saying thatJ.
