Then we went through a jungle which was extremely silent. The beauty of silence is something that takes you by surprise, even a crows sound might sound like a thunder. I asked if there are animals in this jungle and they said-yes bhalu, cheetah etc!!!!!!!!!!! Wow! Quite comforting!!! Then we went near by a small village, a typical village on a valley. Our horse keeper said all these places will be covered during winter, all these houses will go under blankets rather comforters of snowJ . Pointing to a hill on the opposite side, he said people ski/sledge from that hill to this valley in winter times. There will be all kinds of winter fun activities there. I thought of Cedar Rapids, and our backyard during winter and how we all used to go sledging in that slopeJ. Fun indeed!
Then the guys pointed to us a valley which is called- Kashmir valley.
After that they took us to a small hut with a board –proprietor Muhammad. Inside we saw and old man sitting nearby the stove making traditional Kashmiri kawa, fragrant, sweet tea with chopped almonds in it. After a few minutes break we started again. Going down was even scarier than coming up. Half the time I closed my eyes as I didn’t want to see the horse stepping on round shiny stones, and fearing an impending fall !!! We told those guys to leave us at a good restaurant at the market. They left us in front of a Panjabi restaurant- danapani. The food was excellent! With a feeling of satisfaction, mentally and physically (after the superb food) we called our taxi and he took us back to the hotel. The sun was still up and we planned to sit nearby the window to enjoy the rest of our day. I wanted to make that evening perfect, so ran to have a quick bath. By the time I came out he ordered hot pakoras and kawa again! It was one of the rare times when I really felt relaxed. Watching those snow capped mountains and the stunning beauty all around I remembered the song again- unforgettable, that’s what you are…
