A 'FRIEND" of a different kind..

My husband says he has a friend who comes slithering down the wall from the nearby empty land and slides in to the pond looking for frogs or fish. He gently shoos him away when he comes. I saw it one day, it’s a big one .We call it Chera, it is a non poisonous snake that helps us by eating rats and also helps to keep poisonous snakes away. So my husband lets his friend go unhurt.


Two days back we saw a small head in the water near by the water lilies. It was another chera, not his friend. They started chasing away the thing and he won’t go! In the end my husband made it go in to a sack and the helper boy was ready to take it out to some other place. Then after a second thought he decided to let it go to where it came from the plot nearby. As soon as they opened the sack it went right in to a hole in the wall! That means I might be seeing it again..i don’t consider him a friend though:(
