One heck of a train trip

Though the train journey to Pune from Trivandrum was horrible, once we reached Pune , things were just fine. The person, who got us the last minute tickets /thalkal, got us tickets in a/c chair car. There were no tickets available at all on the days we were supposed to be travelling. There were no direct flights from here either. Unfortunately for us, we got the seats across all other seats by the wall. We couldn’t even stretch our legs properly. On top there were two people who just kept on talking and talking and laughing almost all through the night. There was absolutely no concern to the fellow passengers. Some people are never bothered about other people and are so selfish. If they feel like listening to music on high volume at 2 am, they would just do that. Some has the most horrific ring tones I’ve ever heard! Anyways, the torturing journey ended at Panvel. We took a taxi from there to Pune
It was amazing seeing those highways on our way to Pune. I’ve never traveled through highways in India other than inside Kerala. They looked so clean. Toll booths looked exactly like the ones in foreign countries except for the slowness of getting through them.
Enjoyed the traditional thali a lot. It tasted so good and fresh. The hotel Shreyas where we stayed was a very homely hotel. There was one grudging factor. We were on our way to to Pune from Ellora. When we asked how much it would cost to get a room for just one hour to freshen up before we catch our trian; they said it would cost 800 rs. Well, railway retiring room helped serve the purpose for free…
Some asked us what’s there to see in Pune! There were definitely important / historical things to see in Pune, like Aga Khan palace, Lal Mahal/Saniwar wada, Parvati Mountain etc. I liked the city a lot. People are nicer and polite and tolerant than the people in Kerala, I am talking from my own experience, as a Keralite . I don’t think in Kerala if you are driving and blow the horn, the vehicle in front of you would care to move aside, most of them wouldn’t. But the people I saw in Pune were so different! I liked my stay in Pune a lot.
