After I came to US for the first time, we drove from my sister’s home to our home. It was a long trip and we enjoyed listening to old songs on our way. Few of them were from Jesuda’s ‘Vasantha Geethangal‘. Beautiful and extremely nostalgic songs. I remember listening to- ‘Mavupootha Poovanangalil ‘ on that day. Road was almost empty and the sky looked ready to pour down. Then all of a sudden, I saw a few white flakes around. I thought it might be my imagination. Then I saw it again. I was seeing for the first time in my life, snowflakes. It was a beautiful feeling, seeing them floating away like small cotton balls, and listening to the magical voice of Jesudas singing that song.
Afterwards the little beautiful flakes turned in to sheets of snow, which forced us to stop our journey for sometime. I saw the soft, sweet, and harsh, ugly side of snow on that same day..
Yesterday when we went out, my son asked me to put some songs. Usually we don’t, we would just talk and talk and talk. So I took one cassette, and was not sure which songs were in that. After a few seconds, I heared the back ground music f that song- ‘Mavupootha .…’. I closed my eyes and listened to them for the rest of my travel. It’s been a long time, since we heared those songs. When we listen to some of those songs, like Valampiri sankhil, etc you can easily imagine a beautiful young girl, wearing a settum mundum, with long hair coming out of a temple. Lyrics are simply superb.
For once, I guess, I am glad I listened to my son!

I am also a big fan of Jesudas. What a lovely voice he has! And what better time to see your first snowflake!
