As usual, we bought a bunch of movies when we came back. Lots of Malayalam movies, some Tamil movies and a couple of Hindi, movies. One thing that I can’t ignore is the amount of violence in them. I don’t know how our Censor board can give these movies clean certificates .Are they only looking for sexual contents in a movie to put their scissors on and has no problems when it comes to violence?
I think sometime back they showed may be just the actions when somebody was cutting somebody’s body, in most movies. Now the actions are very clear, sometimes even in slow motion with the splattering of blood and the cut and the villains spitting blood in to our faces and what not!!. I am glad we are not watching 3D movies most of the time! When we watch movies together, my son was asking, with so much blood what would be the rating for these movies?? Here I don’t let him play games that have so much violence and even if it says artificial blood content, I sometimes hesitate to give him that. Interestingly when we went to a relative’s house, in India, the kid there his age was playing one game which is said to be one of the most violent games even here.. My son told the father he doesn’t get to play this game, and the reason. His father said with a laugh, ‘Here there is no problem son, we are all very violent people‘!! We all laughed but …do we really have to subject our kids to so much violence and blood shed from very young age? Can’t they grow up normally and slowly?
I was wondering what’s the point. I am fed up; I am just looking for some good family movies like Kilukkam, or Thalavattam, etc.!I think in Malayalam movies violence came popular from movies like Kireedam,Chenkol etc. Since those movies did have, beautiful stories behind them, the violence was overlooked I guess! .. I don’t know what to expect in the future, from movies!

You have bought out valid points. Why the censor boards take out male-female relations, or worse yet allow some of the grotesque behaviors between males and females when 'masked' by songs. (Some of those film songs are pretty vulgar...)
Why don't they look at violence? I am always surprised how much violence is in Indian movies in general. I am not much for watching movies anyway, but I do notice how much violence is in the Indian films and it's quite disturbing. Especially since in India people do have a crazy and obsessive fan following and influence of cine actors not necessarily found in US...
The violence in US has channeled in to the virtual world of games which most children as well as adults are insanely addicted to .They don’t have time for idol worship of cine artists, I guess. They moved from Ronald Reagan to game icons like Master Chief. Don’t know which one is worse though!!
